BACOLOD City – A 69-year-old owner of a boardinghouse in Barangay Villamonte was found dead on Sunday.

A handkerchief was tied around the neck of Virginia Sumagan when her son Joseph discovered her body in her room in the same boardinghouse around 2 a.m.

Joseph also found her personal belongings scattered and several items missing: a P1,000 portable stereo, P10,000 worth of jewelry, a P2,000 pair of rubber shoes, her cell phone, and her wallet.

Police believe Sumagan was robbed and killed.

They have yet to identify the culprit. All the tenants are suspects, said Senior Inspector Elmer Bonilla, Police Station 4 commander.

Sumagan had wounds on the ears and a bite mark on the right hand, police said.

She was declared dead in a private hospital.

Investigation continues./PN
