BOC proclaims new Bacolod City officials

BACOLOD City – The election Board of Canvassers (BOC) proclaimed the newly elected officials of this city yesterday.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia, Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran and Congressman Greg Gasataya were reelectionists under Grupo Progreso.

In the mayoral race, Leonardia garnered 144,776 votes against Atty. Jocelle Batapa-Sigue with 81,248 votes and Ray Carmona with 1,762 votes.

Meanwhile, Familiaran took 126,238 votes against Thaddy Sayson with 91,821 votes.

For congressman, Gasataya received 135,346 votes against former mayor and congressman Monico Puentevella with 84,705 votes, and Kevin Moises with 3,751 votes.

The newly-elect councilors were Cindy Rojas, Renecito Novero, Simple Distrito, Carl Lopez, Al Espino, Archie Baribar, Israel Salanga, Dindo Ramos, Bartolome Orola, Ana Marie Palermo, Elmer Sy, and Wilson Gamboa Jr. with Gamboa as the only opposition bet.

The proclamation delayed for three days due to four corrupt secure digital cards.

“It is something we can say 99 percent and its fine,” the mayor said.

“You have given us a mandate like no other in the history of politics in Bacolod. We can only promise you to build a better, stronger Bacolod,” added Leonardia./PN
