BACOLOD City — Police arrested the No. 6 regional most wanted person in the Negros Island Region (NIR) during an operation in Barangay 4, Sipalay City on October 4.
The suspect, identified as alias “Jor,” 22, single, a fisherman, and a resident of Purok Calangcang, Barangay 4, was arrested by the Tracker Team and intelligence operatives of the 3rd Maneuver Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion.
The operation was conducted in coordination with the Sipalay City Police Station and Ilog Municipal Police Station.
The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) said the suspect was apprehended by virtue of a court-issued warrant for two counts of rape under Paragraph 1(d) of Article 266-A, in relation to Article 266-B(1) of the Revised Penal Code, as amended by Republic Act 8353, or the Anti-Rape Law of 1997.
Police said the cases stemmed from allegations that the suspect, who was reportedly the victim’s boyfriend, forced her to engage in sexual intercourse without her consent.
The suspect is currently under the custody of the Sipalay City Police Station for documentation and proper disposition pending further court proceedings.
PRO-NIR Director Brig. Gen. Rudecindo L. Reales said the arrest demonstrates the regional police office’s continuing campaign to locate and apprehend wanted persons, particularly those facing serious criminal charges.
He said PRO-NIR would continue strengthening intelligence operations and coordination among police units while ensuring that arrests are conducted lawfully and with full respect for the constitutional rights of suspects.
The arrest is part of PRO-NIR’s intensified campaign against wanted persons through focused intelligence gathering and the prompt implementation of court-issued warrants./PN
