BORACAY – Around three years after it was closed, the Ciriaco S. Tirol Hospital has been reopened to give way for expansion and upgrade.
Gov. Florencio Miraflores hopes the reopening of the hospital will attract more tourists.
“The hospital plays a major role in making our tourists feel safe,” Miraflores said.
The Aklan Hospital Management Office is taking charge of the facility’s operation.
Currently only portions of the first and second floors have been opened for the Outpatient Department, or OPD.
Miraflores noted that the reopening was just in time for the continued increase of tourists in the island resort.
The hospital upgrade is being funded through an “enhancement program” under the Department of Health.
It started in 2014. It has an initial budget of around P79 million, divided in three phases.
Last year the Health department released another P15 million for the fourth phase of the upgrading project.
The only hospital in the island is being continuously upgraded to make it a first-class medical facility, Miraflores said. (PNA)
