ILOILO City — Boracay has once again been named the World’s Leading Luxury Island Destination, securing the prestigious global title for the second consecutive year and reaffirming its status among the world’s premier island getaways.
The accolade was presented during the World Travel Awards (WTA) Grand Final Gala on December 6, 2025, at Exhibition World Bahrain. Department of Tourism (DOT) officials Usec. Verna Esmeralda C. Buensuceso and Regional Director Crisanta Marlene P. Rodriguez accepted the award on behalf of the Philippines.
Rodriguez expressed pride in Boracay’s back-to-back win, emphasizing that it reflects the collective efforts of the Local Government of Malay, the Provincial Government of Aklan, and the island’s tourism workers and residents whose dedication to hospitality continues to elevate Boracay’s global appeal.
The island’s latest recognition comes shortly after its inclusion in the Top 10 Islands in Asia in the 2025 Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards—further solidifying its reputation as one of the world’s finest beach destinations.
The WTA and the concurrent World MICE Awards were attended by Buensuceso, Director Zeny Pallugna, and Philippine Ambassador to Bahrain H.E. Gines Jaime Ricardo D. Gallaga, with the ceremony hosted by Bahrain Tourism Minister H.E. Fatima bint Jaffar Al Sairafi./PN
