KALIBO, Aklan – The New Year has become prosperous to Boracay as a total of 6 cruise ships are expected to visit the world-renowned island this January.

According to the data of the Department of Tourism (DOT) Region 6, the following cruise ships are expected to visit Boracay on the following dates:

– MS Star Legend – January 15, 2018 (maiden call)

– MS Chinese Taishan – January 17, 2018

– MS Chinese Taishan – January 22, 2018

– MS World Dream – January 24, 2018

– MS Chinese Taishan – January 27, 2018

– MS World Dream – January 31, 2018

These cruise ship visits are expected to bring thousands of tourists who will experience and see the beauty of Boracay.

More than that, the increasing number of cruise ship arrivals in Boracay is proof that the island is now being recognized as a popular international destination aside from being known a multi-destination attraction.

In a previous report, DOT-6 revealed that 18 cruise ships with more than 50,000 passengers and over 25,000 crew members have already scheduled to visit Boracay this year. In 2019, a total of 9 cruise ships are already scheduled to visit in Boracay that will bring about 9,000 passengers and 5,000 crew members.

“Boracay is already popular among the international market as the country’s top summer destination. Hosting cruise ships here will make it more popular among international tourists as a 24/7 island with diverse offerings,” DOT-6 director Atty. Helen Catalbas noted./PN
