BACOLOD City — To make business registration and renewal faster and more efficient, the Business Permits and Licensing Office (BPLO) has urged all barangays in the city to actively participate in the ongoing Business One-Stop Shop (BOSS) at the lobby of the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC).
The BOSS brings together all government offices involved in business registration, permitting, and renewal in one venue, aiming to reduce red tape, shorten processing time, and provide entrepreneurs with a more convenient and streamlined experience.
The city government is implementing the annual BOSS for the issuance and renewal of Mayor’s Permits for 2026 from January 5 to January 20.
Bacolod has a total of 61 barangays. However, BPLO head Stela Rose Rayos said not all barangays are currently participating in the initiative, prompting the office to renew its appeal.
Rayos said Mayor Greg Gasataya has issued an executive order mandating barangay participation in the BOSS to ensure orderly and efficient processing of business permits.
“Barangay participation is crucial in ensuring faster and smoother processing for business owners,” Rayos said.
As of January 7, BPLO records showed that only 44 barangays had joined the BOSS, with most of the non-participating areas coming from numbered barangays.
BPLO is accepting applications for new and renewal business permits from Monday to Saturday. Records further showed that only 72 Mayor’s Permits had been issued out of the 5,841 business permit applications received so far, as of press time.
On the first day of BOSS operations, 22 new business permits were issued while 811 renewal applications were processed, marking a strong start to the 2026 business permit processing period.
Mayor Gasataya said the opening-day figures reflect the city government’s commitment to streamlining procedures and making public services more efficient and business-friendly.
As a gesture of appreciation, the city government also gave tokens to the first 15 applicants who successfully completed their business permit processing./PN
