BACOLOD City — The Police Regional Office–Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) seized nearly P287 million worth of illegal drugs as it intensified its anti-illegal drug operations across the region in 2025, dealing major blows to drug syndicates.
From its establishment on March 28 until December 31, 2025, PRO-NIR conducted 1,717 anti-drug operations, resulting in the confiscation of 41,979.36 grams of shabu valued at about P285,459,866.96 and 10,535.53 grams of marijuana worth P1,264,463.48.
Police data showed that the sustained campaign also led to the arrest of 2,077 drug personalities, underscoring the region’s intelligence-driven approach against illegal drugs.
The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) recorded one of the highest volumes of confiscated drugs, seizing 18,783.07 grams of shabu valued at P127,724,905.24 and 10,207.41 grams of marijuana worth P1,224,888.84 in 444 operations. These operations resulted in the arrest of 586 suspects.
The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOcPPO) conducted 864 operations, confiscating 4,375.91 grams of shabu with an estimated value of P29,756,181.88 and 306.22 grams of marijuana worth P36,746.64. A total of 1,059 drug suspects were arrested.
Meanwhile, the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (NOrPPO) seized 18,813.78 grams of shabu valued at P127,933,702.64 and 21.9 grams of marijuana worth P2,828 during 385 operations, leading to the arrest of 406 suspects.
The Siquijor Police Provincial Office (SPPO), through 24 operations, confiscated 6.6 grams of shabu worth P45,077.20 and arrested 26 individuals.
PRO-NIR attributed the volume of drug seizures to sustained intelligence-led operations, close coordination with local government units, and strong partnerships with communities and other law enforcement agencies. Authorities said the focused targeting of high-value drug personalities and timely execution of operations played a crucial role in disrupting illegal drug networks across the region.
Police Brig. Gen. Arnold Thomas C. Ibay, regional director of PRO-NIR, commended police units for their dedication, discipline, and professionalism in the 2025 anti-illegal drug campaign, noting that the confiscations translated into safer communities and weakened drug supply chains.
PRO-NIR assured the public that its campaign against illegal drugs will remain relentless, with intensified intelligence operations, stronger case build-up, and closer coordination with prosecutors to ensure successful convictions. Police also vowed to sustain community-based prevention, education, and rehabilitation efforts while continuing aggressive drug-clearing operations in all cities and municipalities./PN
