BACOLOD City – Village officials and watchmen were urged to help the police in maintaining a peaceful observance of Undas.
On Monday, the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) passed a resolution asking barangays to observe security measures on Nov. 1 and 2.
“This is to ensure safety on roads as well as private and public cemeteries during All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day,” said Councilor Ricardo Tan, author of the resolution.
Tan, chairman of the SP committee on police matters, peace and order and illegal drugs, said the roads and cemeteries are expected to be congested during the 2-day observance of Undas.
While the police and other security personnel were deployed across the city, Tan said there is still a need for additional support to minimize – if not avoid – crimes.
Tan added that these crimes usually take place on roads, cemeteries and residential houses./PN
