BACOLOD City – Bulk water may be delivered across the city starting November if it passes laboratory quality standards, according to Bacolod City Water District (Baciwa) assistant general manager Jenelyn Gemora.
“Once the water quality in laboratory testing passes, Baciwa consumers can expect water in November,” Gemora said.
On Tuesday, Baciwa received an opinion letter from the Office of the Government Corporate Council (OGCC) giving them a “go-signal” to amend the contract of the bulk water project with Bacolod City Bulk Water, Inc. (BBWI).
The amendment will allow BBWI to connect its water treatment plant in Barangay Granada (Injection Point 1) to Baciwa’s mainline pipe so that bulk water delivery in the city can start.
Baciwa general manager Juliana Carbon earlier asked for OGCC’s opinion regarding the interconnection.
Carbon said she considered the interconnection as an alternative pending BBWI’s laying down of pipes from Injection Point 1 to the water district reservoir.
BBWI has yet to secure a “right of way” as it negotiates with owners of properties where its pipes are supposed to pass.
Gemora said BBWI tentatively scheduled to start connecting its water treatment plant to Baciwa’s mainline pipe along San Miguel Road in Barangay Granada today.
The interconnection will be done in the presence of Baciwa personnel, added Gemora.
After the interconnection, Gemora said the bulb will still be closed pending results of water quality laboratory testing.
Meanwhile, BBWI said there will be another delay in water delivery from its water plant in Barangay Mansilingan (Injection Point 2).
BBWI said water from Injection Point 2 may be delivered in December due to processing of requirements./PN
