ANTIQUE — The island municipality of Caluya reaffirmed its creative and cultural excellence after clinching its second consecutive championship in Pasundayag 2025, successfully defending its title during the culmination of the event held as part of the 51st Binirayan Festival.
The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Caluya was declared champion in the Pasundayag Major Prizes (Exhibit Booth Design) category on December 29, earning a cash prize of P200,000 for its outstanding presentation that highlighted Antiqueño creativity, culture, and tourism potential.
LGU Valderrama placed first runner-up and received P150,000, while LGU Patnongon secured second runner-up honors with a P100,000 prize.
Pasundayag 2025 featured 15 participating municipalities that showcased their best local products, craftsmanship, and tourism identity through creatively designed exhibit booths. The event is a major highlight of the Binirayan Festival, aimed at promoting local pride, innovation, and economic growth among Antique’s municipalities.
Aside from the major awards, several special citations were also handed out. LGU Patnongon was recognized for Highest Sales, while LGU Bugasong won the Most Promising Food Product award for its vinegar product “Nipa Kuriit.” The Most Promising Non-Food Product award went to the Pandan/Sto. Rosario Multi-Purpose Cooperative for its bags made of bariw, abaca, and buri.
Pasundayag is divided into two main components—Produkto Antiqueño and Produkto Turismo—providing a vibrant platform for municipalities to showcase their finest local products and unique cultural heritage. The competition encourages friendly rivalry while strengthening the province’s tourism and local industries.
Caluya’s victory this year follows its strong performance in previous editions of the competition, including last year’s first-place finish, which featured a striking island-themed booth.
Meanwhile, the 12 participating LGUs that did not win major awards will each receive a consolation prize worth P50,000 in recognition of their participation and efforts.
Organizers hailed Pasundayag 2025 as a successful celebration of Antiqueño ingenuity and collaboration, reinforcing the role of local government units in driving cultural promotion and sustainable economic development across the province./PN
