ILOILO – To maintain the cleanliness of surroundings and reduce the risk of a surge in dengue fever cases, the provincial government is re-launching its Limpyo Dalanon campaign today, June 14.

“Ang ‘Limpyo Dalanon’ bulig sang probinsya sa pag-maintain sang national highways… Kada (congressional) district may ara kita Provincial Civil Defense Team nga nagalimpyu sa national highways,” said Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr.

The re-launching would be done after today’s flag ceremony.

The “Limpyo Dalanon” campaign aims to eliminate plastic, paper and other wastes from national and provincial highways and waterways, Defensor said.

He also pointed out the threat of dengue fever especially with the onset of rainy season.

The governor said the program would be done regularly.

Agencies such as the Department of Public Works and Highways, Land Transportation Office, Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Bureau of Fire Protection, and Philippine National Police together with the Iloilo Provincial Capitol, municipal and barangay officials and residents are expected to participate.

Defensor said minimum health standards would be practiced.

Limpyo Dalanon” was first launched on Dec. 11, 2020.

Meanwhile, Defensor said the capitol’s “Limpyo MGCQ (modified general community quarantine)”, a separate program, is also ongoing. Its objective is to search and destroy the possible breeding places of mosquitos near households and public places.

“Province-wide ‘ni sia nga limpyo or clean-up for dengue,” he said./PN
