76 La Paz cops negative for COVID-19

ILOILO City – Seventy-six personnel of the La Paz police station who had exposure to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)-infected colleagues were found negative for the viral disease.

Captain Edfil Balibadlan, La Paz police chief, announced this good news yesterday.

According to Balibadlan, all of his men, including him, underwent reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) tests. Their result came out on Jan. 19.

“We are all negative,” an elated Balibadlan said.

He had since ordered a thorough disinfection of the police station after four policemen and a female non-uniformed personnel were found to be carriers of the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19.

According to Balibadlan, they likely got the virus from two infected detainees.

Of the five infected personnel, one was confined at the West Visayas State University Medical Center in Jaro district for difficulty of breathing.

The four others were asymptomatic and were placed under home quarantine./PN
