CAPIZ — The Provincial Government of Capiz celebrated Provincial Linggo ng Kabataan (Youth Week) 2026 on August 22 at the Robinsons Place Activity Area in Roxas City, bringing together young people from across the province to promote youth leadership, talent and community participation.
The celebration was held as part of the province’s observance of International Youth Day and provided a platform for young Capisnons to showcase their skills and leadership capabilities as potential future leaders and active members of their communities.
Among the highlights were the recognition of fresh graduates, successful Board and Civil Service examination passers, outstanding Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) projects, and recipients of the Best Teen Center Excellence 2026 award.
Participants also took part in a Unity Dance, showcasing youth solidarity and talent.
Support services and information campaigns were also offered through health promotion booths established by the Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital (RMPH), Learner Rights and Protection (LRP) Desk, and Capiz Eco-Youth Volunteers (CEYV).
Representing Governor Castro, 2nd District Deputy Administrator Rosemarie Gardose delivered the opening message and reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to supporting the youth.
Roilo Vincent Laguna, officer-in-charge population program manager of the Commission on Population (POPCOM) Region VI, also commended the active participation of young people in the celebration.
The activity was spearheaded by Provincial SK Federation President and Ex-Officio Board Member Prince Rovic Gardose, together with the Capiz Youth Development Council.
Board Member Cesar Yap Jr., municipal SK federation presidents, student groups, educators, youth coordinators and representatives of local youth organizations from across the province attended the event.
The provincial government said the celebration emphasized the importance of providing young people with greater opportunities to develop and demonstrate their talents, abilities and leadership while encouraging them to become active members of their communities.
International Youth Day is observed every August 12 following its establishment by the United Nations in 1999. It recognizes the voice and contributions of young people while promoting opportunities for youth participation, leadership and nation-building./PN
