CAPIZ – The Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (LDRRMC) of Capiz once again emerged as champion in the 2025 Regional Rescuelympics held on August 24–25 at the West Visayas State University–Pototan Campus.
Under the leadership of Governor Fredenil H. Castro, the Capiz team swept several major awards, including Excellence in Water Search and Rescue, Excellence in Vehicle Extrication, and Excellence in Basic Life Support and Standard First Aid—securing their second consecutive overall championship in the competition.
The two-day Rescuelympics was organized by the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Region VI in partnership with the Iloilo Provincial Government. The event aimed to strengthen the skills, readiness, and coordination of local rescuers in responding to disasters and emergencies across Western Visayas.
The victory highlighted the dedication and preparedness of Capiz’s rescue teams in handling life-saving operations. The Bureau of Fire Protection and the Philippine Coast Guard also played key roles in guiding and supporting the participants, ensuring the success of the event./PN
