CAPIZ — The Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) Capiz marked Earth Day 2026 with a forest immersion and seeds and wildlings collection activity, reinforcing efforts to promote environmental awareness and sustainability.
Carrying the global theme “Our Power, Our Planet,” the initiative was held on April 24 in the green areas of Dolores in Dumalag and Intampilaan in Panitan, bringing together participants for a day of ecological learning and action.
The activity opened with an “Earth Bathing” or forest immersion experience, allowing participants to explore local ecosystems and deepen their appreciation of nature. The immersive activity highlighted the vital role of forests in sustaining biodiversity and regulating climate.
PENRO Capiz emphasized that the celebration goes beyond a one-day observance, aiming instead to instill a lasting sense of environmental stewardship and shared responsibility.
“Activities like this encourage individuals and communities to take part in protecting and preserving our natural resources,” the office noted.
Participants also took part in collecting native seeds and wildlings, which will be used to support ongoing reforestation and environmental rehabilitation efforts across the province. The initiative underscored how individual contributions can help restore natural habitats and strengthen conservation programs.
The gathering likewise served as a platform for discussions on sustainable practices and the need for stronger collaboration in addressing pressing environmental challenges.
Echoing the theme, participants expressed their commitment to continue promoting sustainability in their respective communities.
With sustained initiatives such as these, PENRO Capiz remains optimistic about fostering a greener and more resilient future for the province./PN
