CAPIZ — The Capiz provincial government under the leadership of Gov. Fredenil H. Castro reaffirmed its commitment to inclusivity and improved public health services during a gathering for persons with disabilities (PWDs) held on Friday, October 10, at the Capiz Gymnasium.
The event marked the culmination of a series of activities recognizing and empowering PWDs in the province.
In his keynote message, Gov. Castro underscored the importance of creating opportunities for all Capiznons, regardless of their physical challenges.
“It is our duty to create an environment where every individual, regardless of their challenges, can thrive and contribute to society,” Castro said, warmly addressing the participants.
The governor also shared updates on the province’s health initiatives, including the ongoing construction of a Cancer Center at the newly established Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital (RMPH) in Barangay Lanot.
“This facility will not only serve as a treatment center but will also be equipped with advanced medical equipment, ensuring that patients no longer need to travel far to receive proper care,” he added.
Further expressing his support for the PWD community, Gov. Castro pledged the provincial government’s assistance for their planned activities during the upcoming holiday season.
“This is a great opportunity for all of us to come together and celebrate our strengths and achievements,” he said, encouraging unity and collaboration among attendees.
The event gathered key provincial officials, including Board Members Trina Marie Ignacio, Blesilda Almalbis, and Cecilio Fecundo, as well as First District Provincial Deputy Administrator Ricky Martin. Members of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) also attended, led by PSWDO head Joerine Tan, who spearheaded the successful organization of the event.
The culmination program featured performances and showcases highlighting the talents and resilience of PWDs in Capiz. Many participants expressed gratitude for the recognition and support extended by the provincial government.
