Capiz records three coronavirus cases

ROXAS City – From one, the number of the positive coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in this province increased to 4, according to the Provincial Health Office (PHO)-Capiz.

Out of the nine swabs samples from the persons under investigation (PUIS) in this province sent by the PHO-Capiz to the Western Visayas Medical Center’s Department of Pathology in Mandurriao, Iloilo City, the Department of Health-Region 6 discovered that three of them have tested positive for the virus on March 31.

Gov. Esteban Contreras, for his part, identified the three new cases as the following:

*PUI No. 22 – A 53-year-old male from Mambusao town. He had a history of travel to Manila and is now in stable condition.

*PUI No. 32 – A 60-year-old female from Barangay Dayao in this city. She succumbed to the viral disease on March 29 and had a travel history to Manila and Dubai.

*PUI No.33 – A 44-year-old male from Aklan but is working in this province. He also travelled to Manila and had a confirmed exposure of the disease. 

These patients were hospitalized at the Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital. 

To recall, a 45-year-old man from Jamindan town, who also had a history of travel to Manila, was the first person to have tested positive for COVID-19 in this province. He is now in a stable condition also.

As of this writing, Capiz has 420 active persons under monitoring (PUMs) out of the total 4,898. The said PUMs that were cleared have finished their hospital and home quarantine.

Meanwhile, Contreras appealed for all-out support and cooperation from his fellow Capizeños. He also called for the intensification and the strict implementation of his executive order, which puts the entire province under the enhanced community quarantine in a bid to contain the spread of the COVID-19.(With a report from Merlinda Bagnate/PN)
