CAPIZ — A seven-athlete delegation from the Venancio Taekwondo Academy (VTA) brought pride to Capiz after winning three gold and three bronze medals at the Smart/MVP Sports Foundation (SMVPSF) National Poomsae Taekwondo Championships at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Manila.
The Capiz-based team competed against some of the country’s top young taekwondo practitioners, with three athletes emerging as national champions in their respective divisions.
Marms Syrell L. Deocampo won the gold medal in the Junior Blue Belt Division, while Noah Zion Alcantara topped the Elementary Division.
James Niño Ablao Venancio also captured gold in the High Blue Toddler Division after delivering an outstanding performance in the poomsae competition.
The three champions showcased precision, balance, power, and proper execution of taekwondo forms, reflecting months of disciplined training and preparation.
VTA also secured three bronze medals through Joannes Paulus Gabionza, Merishka Rainne Ablao, and Sylvanna Mia Bocala, who placed among the top competitors in their respective divisions.
Another member of the delegation, Ayien Drei Aventurado, finished sixth in her category, further contributing to the team’s strong showing at the national competition.
The athletes’ performance highlighted the academy’s growing pool of young taekwondo talent in Capiz.
VTA credited the team’s success to the athletes’ perseverance, consistent training, and determination, as well as the support of their families and the academy.
Special recognition was given to Coach Joven Venancio for his guidance and mentorship in developing young athletes and promoting taekwondo in the province.
The academy said it will continue training its athletes and preparing them for future competitions while promoting the values of discipline, patience, and excellence through the sport.
