CAPIZ – With everything set for this year’s Capiztahan Festival, Gov. Fredenil H. Castro highlighted the province’s and its annual celebration’s roots in unity.
The provincial government held a general meeting for Capiztahan 2024 at the Hall of Governors, where Castro delivered an inspiring message centered on the enduring spirit of the festival.
“Capiztahan will survive the passing of time because we are gathered as one,” he said.
Castro then underscored the festival’s foundation in love and commitment and expressed gratitude to all who attended the meeting and wholeheartedly supported it.
“I have faith and trust in you,” the governor added.
During the assembly, the line-up of festival events slated for April 11 to May 1 was also presented.
Among the highlights will be the Maragtas sang Capisnon Historical Performances, Hangaway kag Lin-ay sang Capiz, Tagbuanay sang Maragtas, Binayle sa Kalye, Balik Capiz, Surambaw Seafood Fest, street party, and fireworks display, among others.
Capiz has allocated P80 million for this year’s celebration, with the goal of surpassing last year’s grandiose.
The meeting on Friday, April 5, was organized through the Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office in close collaboration with festival organizer Maragtas of Capiz Foundation, Inc.
Also in attendance were the Municipal Tourism Officers, Philippine National Police, Coastguard, Provincial Risk Reduction and Management Office, Capiz Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office, Bureau of Fire Protection, Department of Education Capiz, Sangguniang Kabataan Federation president Prince Rovic Gardoce, and Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office head Alphonsus Tesoro.
Castro and Tesoro also personally checked on the Maragtas dancers from various municipalities during their blocking and dance rehearsal on Sunday, April 7.
