ILOILO – A crash between a motorcycle and a truck in Carles town left two people dead. Four others, including three soldiers, were injured.
The incident happened around 9:15 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15 in Barangay Barosbos.
Motorcycle driver Diaryl Bagolcol, 34, of Barangay Suha, San Dionisio and back rider Marry George Casurao, 35, of Barangay Poblacion, Carles were killed.
Both were declared “dead on arrival” at the Jesus Colmenares District Hospital in Balasan.
The other motorcycle back rider, 30-year-old Felisa Basilan of Barangay Barosbos, Carles, was injured along with the following soldiers on board the truck:
* Alex Azuelo, 49, of Barangay Cabalic, Balasan
* Rolando Velasquez Sr., 56, of Barangay Bulaqueña, Estancia
* Bernardo Bandiez, 42, of Barangay Cawayan, Carles
The injured soldiers were among the 11 on board the truck, a rescue service vehicle, driven by Junrey Perez, 24, of Barangay San Isidro, Jaro, Iloilo City.
They were members of the Philippine Army’s 604th Community Defense Center – 1st Iloilo Ready Reserve Infantry Battalion, which is under the 6th Regional Community Defense Group.
The truck (plate number GNH-611) from Balasan was negotiating a curved road when it crashed into the motorcycle, which was going the opposite direction, and then skidded toward the road shoulder, police investigation showed.
Perez was detained in the Carles police station lockup cell./PN
