ILOILO – In a significant move to uplift the agricultural sector, 76 farmers from the municipalities of Tapaz and Dumalag, Capiz, received financial assistance on November 12 through the Kalubihan sa Kamaisan Project of the Provincial Government of Capiz.
A total of P439,288 in cash incentives was distributed during the event held at the Ricardo H. Castro Memorial Hall in Dumalag. The initiative underscores the province’s continuing commitment to supporting farmers and promoting sustainable agricultural practices.
The program, anchored on Provincial Ordinance No. 208, Series of 2023, aims to mitigate soil erosion and reduce flooding across Capiz by aligning farming practices with environmental sustainability. Gov. Fredenil H. Castro, who has championed the project, emphasized the importance of protecting the land while empowering its stewards — the farmers.
Of the total amount, P232,428 was distributed to 35 beneficiaries from Dumalag, while P206,860 went to 41 beneficiaries from Tapaz. The financial aid is expected to help farmers reinvest in their operations, improve productivity, and enhance their overall livelihood.
The distribution was attended by key provincial and local officials, including Vice Gov. James Magbanua, 1st District Deputy Provincial Administrator Enrique Martin, and representatives from the Philippine Coconut Authority–Capiz led by OIC Provincial Coconut Development Manager Andy Laurilla.
