CASH REMITTANCES to the Philippines reached a record $35.63 billion in 2025, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) said Monday, February 16.
The BSP said this comes as December remittances reached $3.52 billion. The full-year number is 3.3 percent higher than the $34.49 billion seen in 2024.
“The full-year 2025 cash remittances represented 7.3 percent and 6.4 percent of the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and Gross National Income (GNI), respectively,” the central bank said.
The BSP said the United States is the Philippines’ top source of remittances in 2025, followed by Singapore and Saudi Arabia.
Personal remittances, meanwhile, also went up 3.3 percent to $39.62 billion in 2025, from $38.34 billion in 2024.
Personal remittances, which include cash sent through banks and informal channels and remittances sent in kind, hit $3.89 billion in December.
The Philippines is one of the largest recipients of remittances. Money sent home by overseas Filipinos helps power domestic consumption and drive economic growth.
Household consumption grew by 3.8 percent in 2025, the Philippine Statistics Authority said. (ABS-CBN News)
