BACOLOD City – Negros Occidental governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. has acknowledged Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Castil as director of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo).
Castil has been leading the Nocppo as officer-in-charge – a nonpermanent designation – since April, when he replaced Senior Superintendent William Señoron, who was linked to the illegal drug trade.
At the provincial capitol last week, Marañon introduced Castil as the new Nocppo director.
But as of this writing, Castil was still waiting for an order from the Philippine National Police national headquarters officially assigning him as Nocppo director.
Marañon ordered Castil to make Negros Occidental peaceful and drug-free.
The province is No. 2 tourist destination in the Philippines. The governor said he wants to make it No. 1.
“If the province is not peaceful, tourists will not come here,” Marañon said.
Castil said he will do his best to maintain peace and order in Negros Occidental.
“Taos-pusong nagpapasalamat ako sa ibinigay na tiwala sa akin ng ating governor,” Castil said./PN
