BACOLOD City – The rate of the Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) in the member-consumers’ December bill has reduced.
Member-consumers were being billed P10.0318 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) this month, according to Ceneco general manager Sulpicio Lagarde Jr.
This was a P0.6640 reduction from the P10.6958-per-kWh rate in November, Lagarde said in a text message.
The systems loss charged to member-consumers also dropped to P11.14 this month from P11.53 last month, said Lagarde.
Lagarde said the December bill covered the member-consumers’ electricity consumption from Oct. 26 to Nov. 25.
The Ceneco official attributed the reductions to the drop in the October power rate of the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM).
Ceneco buys from the WESM when there is a high demand for electricity.
The power distribution utility has 119 megawatts (MW) of contracted power supply but needs 160 MW this month, especially with the Yuletide season.
Lagarde advised member-consumers to pay their bills promptly to avoid penalties.
This will likewise allow Ceneco to pay its suppliers, the general manager said./PN
