BACOLOD City – The Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) will return to member-consumers the P0.222 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) charge it collected since the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) released an order on June 20.
The ERC order directed Ceneco to collect the monthly charge for 60 months until an amount of P853,371,962.67 is accumulated.
The amount was for the automatic cost recovery mechanism true-up adjustment, the ERC said.
The October power bill that Ceneco released reflected the charge as “recovery of the generation rate adjustment mechanism and incremental currency exchange rate adjustment by the Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management.”
But on Oct. 19, the ERC issued another order deferring the previous one, according to Ceneco president Roy Cordova.
Cordova said since Ceneco already collected the recovery charge before the latest order was released, the electric cooperative must refund its member-consumers.
Ceneco general manager Sulpicio Lagarde said the refund will be reflected on the Nov. 16 power bill, which will be in a form of deduction in the total monthly bill.
Aside from the recovery charge, the upward adjustment in the October power rate was also due to the increase in the generation charge (P0.4728), transmission charge (P0.1412) and system loss charge (P0.0938).
The October rate was P11.028 per kWh, P1.015 per kWh higher than September’s P10.0130 per kWh./PN
