CenterPhil, Sta. Clarita roll past foes in NBTC Iloilo leg

CENTERPHIL Montessori Silver Knights and Santa Clarita International School Primes walloped their respective foes in the National Basketball Training Center-Iloilo leg on Thursday at the Western Institute of Technology gym.

Lester Valn Paraico waxed hot with 26 points to lead the way for the Silver Knights in a 95-42 domination over Central Philippine University Golden Lions and finish Group C with 3-0 win-loss slate.

The Primes, on the other hand, also finished Group B with a perfect 3-0 slate following a 97-52 rout of Ateneo de Iloilo. Jemar Cepriano finished with 20 points, while Franc Steven Tono added 10 markers.

University of San Agustin also finished atop in Group D with 3-0 after a 67-38 annihilation of erstwhile unbeaten Iloilo National High School. Jesmar Fulgencio had 13 markers for SanAg.

The Integrated Academy School Systems Inc. (TIASS), meanwhile, clinch the last quarterfinals seat in Group A with a 63-62 escape over the Mandurriao National High School. JM Delos Santos tallied 20 markers for TIASS.

Quarterfinals action is slated on Feb. 2 and 10 where Group A qualifiers Hua Siong College of Iloilo Red Phoenix and TIASS grouped with Group D qualifiers SanAg and Iloilo National High.

Group B quarterfinalists Primes and St. Robert’s International Academy Panda Rockets were grouped with Group C qualifiers Silver Knights and Sun Yat Sen High School.

The top two teams from the combined groups will advance to the crossover semifinals round slated on Feb. 13 while the do-or-die championship game is scheduled on Feb. 14./PN
