ILOILO – A fugitive in Central Visayas was apprehended in Miag-ao, Iloilo.

The 32-year-old alias “Jomar,” a resident of Miagao town’s Barangay San Rafael, was tagged as among the most wanted persons.

Three warrants of arrest for rape issued by the Regional Trial Court, Branches 13 and 16, in Carigara, Leyte, were served against him at around 11:25 p.m. on April 9 in Barangay Baybay Norte, Miagao.

“Jomar” is facing charges under criminal case numbers R-BAR-2022-008-CR, R-BAR-2022-009-CR, and R-BAR-2022-010-CR.

Baka sa Leyte nangyari ang case kasi ang kanyang warrants ay from Leyte. Parang may knowledge sya na may warrant sya. Dito sya nag trabaho for two years as construction worker” said Miag-ao police chief Captain Francis Don Lumahan.

The successful arrest was made through a joint operation by the Philippine National Police Intelligence Group and units under the Iloilo Police Provincial Office.

Brigadier General Jack L. Wanky, director of Police Regional Office 6, emphasized the significance of this operation, stating, “This successful operation shows that fugitives from the law cannot hide forever. They can evade for the moment, but the time will come when they will be reached by the long arm of the law. This arrest should serve as a lesson to those remaining wanted persons to surrender.”

The apprehended individual is currently under police custody for proper disposition and pending turnover to the court of origin./PN
