MANILA – Ceres-Negros Football Club will aim for a repeat victory when it plays host to Stallion-Laguna Football Club anew in the 2017 Philippines Football League (PFL) today at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City.
Game time is at 4 p.m. with the Negros Occidental-based football team eyeing its third straight victory while Stallion-Laguna is still in a hunt for its first win in the tournament.
Ceres-Negros is currently at fourth place in the standings with 10 points on three wins, one draw and a loss while Stallion-Laguna is at the cellar with three points on three draws and four losses.
In their first encounter on Wednesday also in the Bacolod venue, Ceres-Negros scored a lopsided 5-1 victory over Stallion-Laguna behind the hat-trick of Fernando Rodriguez and brace of Bienvenido Marañon.
“I’m very happy to help the team to win the game,” said Rodriguez. “I feel a little bit heavy because (it was a) long time without (me) playing. The field also was not so easy to play (in) but (I’m) very happy for the victory. Hope we can repeat on Saturday.”
Aside from Rodriguez and Marañon, other players to bank on at Ceres-Negros are Philippine Azkals’ Simone Rota, Jose Elmer Porteria, Jason De Jong, Ronald Muller, Iain Ramsay, Stephan Schrock, Fil-Iranian Omid Nazari, and Japanese Kota Kawase.
“It’s not easy to play against the same team in a couple of days. But for me, after winning our first match, well have to focus on this second one and give hundred percent,” said Ceres-Negros head coach Risto Vidakovic.
Meanwhile, Ceres-Negros is inviting Negrense football fans to watch their match against Stallion-Laguna this afternoon. Grandstand A, C, D, E and bleachers section will be open to the public for free. No more ticket distribution unlike before./PN
