
MANILA – Chery Tiggo Crossovers recovered from being two sets under to defeat the PLDT Home Fibr Power Hitters, 18-25, 21-25, 25-22, 28-26, 15-12, in the 2020 Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix at the San Juan Arena.
Reinforcement Tatjana Bokan carried the load of offense while Elaine Kasilag and Rachel Austero provided support for Chery Tiggo, which marks it second victory in three matches.
Bokan fired 20 kills and five aces for 25 points, Kasilag chipped in 11 markers, while Austero contributed 10 marks for the Crossovers to complete a bounce back against PLDT in a marathon match that required two hours and 24 minutes to conclude.
After bowing down in the first two sets, the Crossovers caught fire and erected a 9-4 lead in the third set. The Power Hitters cut the lead to two, 7-9, and then Maeva Orle (PLDT) turned it into a slim 12-13 deficit.
Austero and Bokan, however, delivered in the crucial stretch to claim the third-set victory and gain momentum the rest of the way.
Orle, who delivered nine of PLDT’s attacks in the fifth set, registered an impressive 47 kills and three aces for a game-high of 50 points. It was not just enough, however, for the Power Hitters. They now suffered their third straight defeat.
Meanwhile, Generika-Ayala Lifesavers pulled off a tight 25-16, 18-25, 25-23, 28-30, 16-14 against the Marinerang Pilipina Lady Skippers. The Lifesavers improved to a 1-2 win-loss card, while the Lady Skippers dropped to 0-3./PN
