City council seeks revamp of info-tech, computer office

BACOLOD City – The Sangguniang Panlalawigan here passed a resolution urging Mayor Evelio Leonardia to fully implement City Ordinance No. 856 series of 2018, which seeks to reorganize the Management Information Technology and Computer Services (MITCS).

Under the City Ordinance No. 856, MITCS will be renamed Information and Communications Technology Office, where its organizational structure and functions will also be reformed.

Councilor Em Ang, author of the resolution, said it is necessary to implement the ordinance to give direction to the office.

“We must provide the necessary support to the players in the industry and to ensure the continued growth of the same,” she noted.

Ang added renaming and reorganizing the said office will give them a responsibility of giving assistance to potential and existing investors in the city.

She explained the information and communications technology industry continues to grow and Bacolod City remains as one of the preferred locations of investors in putting up call centers for business process outsourcing and knowledge process outsourcing.

“The industry is already employing more than six thousand employees generating millions of pesos of revenue to the city,” the lady councilor said./PN
