ILOILO City – Mayor Jose Espinosa III plans to put at Asilo de Molo on Avaceña Street senior citizens who have no more families to care for them.

“Some senior citizens have no relatives and no money to support their stay at Asilo de Molo. The city government will fund it. We really want to help them,” Espinosa said.

This initiative is part of the city government’s “Pag-ulikid sang Syudad” program which aims to provide support for constituents’ concerns on healthcare and poverty, among others.

“I want the indigent senior citizens to benefit from the program. I do not want any of them to die because they have nothing eat or without availing our services,” said Espinosa.

Asilo de Molo aims to house and give care to poor elderly in and around the metropolis.

The City Social Welfare and Development Office will conduct the assessment as to medical and family backgrounds of indigent, neglected or abandoned senior citizens prior to referral to Asilo de Molo.

Espinosa also said some13,000 senior citizens there will be no delays in the release of their P1,500 social pension per quarter. (Merianne Grace Ereñeta, Iloilo City PIO/PN)
