BACOLOD City – The Public Order and Safety Office (POSO) is frequently monitoring the fountain area of the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC).
This was after POSO personnel caught four minors taking 25 janitor fishes from the fountain using two buckets at around 3 p.m. on Oct. 30.
Executive Assistant Celestino Guara Jr., head of POSO, said only one of them was apprehended. The other three escaped.
Based on the investigation that the Women and Children’s Protection Desk of the Bacolod City Police Office conducted, the 8-year-old minor was “instructed” by his uncle to take the janitor fishes.
Guara added that some minors were also caught throwing frogs in the fountain.
The fountain hosts thousands of Koi fishes that the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary District of Western Visayas 607th Squadron donated to the city government in July.
Minors caught are placed under the custody of the Women and Children’s Protection Desk and are released upon the approval of the Department of Social Services and Development./PN
