ILOILO City – The Iloilo City Barangay Drug Clearing Program Assistance Team is working to get 10 barangays officially declared drug-cleared.
According to City Administrator Hernando Galvez, the team already had a conference with the officials of the following barangays:
* Sampaguita, Edganzon, Osmeña, Kauswagan, and San Jose in the City Proper
* San Jose, Kuna and Sta. Isabel in Jaro district
* Banuyao in La Paz district
“We look forward nga ang aton Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency maga-recommend sa aton Regional Oversight Committee (on illegal drugs headed by the Police Regional Office 6) nga i-declare ining mga barangay as drug-free,” said Galvez.
As of Wednesday afternoon, barangays Sampaguita, Osmeña and Sta. Isabel already completed the needed documents.
Espinosa issued Executive Order (EO) No. 124 creating the Iloilo City Barangay Drug Clearing Program Assistance Team to hasten the drug-clearing initiatives in 180 barangays.
Galvez heads the team.
The city mayor observed that no barangay in the city has been declared drug-free yet “notwithstanding serious efforts of the city government (in the antidrug campaign).”

Love Faith Hayco, City Legal Assistant II Jhanrey Gonzaga, City Legal Assistant II Rudiver Jungco Jr., Assistant Department Head Eireen Manikan, Public Information Officer Lucy Sinay, and Sports and Games Registration Officer II Ray Jason Gregorio./PN
