BACOLOD City – The Land Tax Division of the City Treasurer’s Office (CTO) is open today despite the national legal holiday.
Dec. 30 is Rizal Day in the Philippines, the day when Filipinos commemorate the life and works of Jose Rizal.
The CTO will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to pave way for those who want to pay their real property taxes (RPT), according to the city’s Public Information Office.
City Assessor Maphilindo Polvora said some taxpayers may have queries that needed to be answered, especially that the schedule of the market values of real properties in the city was updated under City Ordinance No. 827.
The new RPT rates will take effect next year but some taxpayers wanted to avail themselves of the 20-percent discount if they pay this December, Polvora said.
Those who will pay their RPTs in next year’s first quarter, on the other hand, will avail themselves of a 10-percent discount.
The employees who will report today are entitled for an additional pay, said Polvora./PN
