MANILA – Flight punctuality has earned the Clark International Airport an exceptional two-star rating from a UK-based air travel intelligence company, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) announced on Thursday.

“Clark is the only airport in the country to be given this two-star rating by the Official Aviation Guide (OAG) and the first ever star rating we received,” said Clark International Airport Corporation president Jaime Alberto Melo.

“This recognition is indeed a welcome development as Clark Airport celebrates its 24th anniversary this month,” he added.

Clark Airport’s On-Time Performance, which is measured by the number of departures and arrivals that take place in less than 15 minutes after scheduled departure and arrival times, was given a 71.3 percent score during the June 2017 to May 2018 rating period.

Melo said that in order for an airport to gain a star rating, it must have a minimum of 600 operations per month.

The Clark Airport caters to an average of 11,500 passengers daily and has an average of 714 domestic and international flights every week.

Meanwhile, one-star ratings were given to Ninoy Aquino International Airport (MNL), Iloilo International Airport (ILO), and Mactan Cebu International Airport (MCIA). (GMA News)
