Cloud seeding plans in NegOcc canceled

BACOLOD City – The Office of Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) recently cancelled the cloud seeding operations in Negros Occidental this month.

OPA head Japhet Masculino said the recent precipitation made it unnecessary.

“We could still use the P2.5-million budget for future cloud seeding plans within the year,” Masculino explained.

The province’s agriculture sector incurred crop damages worth P480 million due to the El Niño phenomenon.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said the rainy season could be declared anytime between this week and the second week of June./PN
