BACOLOD City – Police in Cauayan, Negros Occidental intercepted a six-wheeler truck laden with illegally transported lumber.
Driver Jay Ledesma, 21, of Murcia town was arrested. He failed to show pertinent documents permitting the transport of the estimated 4,000 board feet of coconut lumber loaded onto the vehicle.
Police flagged down the truck — with plate number GGY-514 and registered to Rosalie Lico Ledesma of Murcia — in Sitio Tabuk Suba, Barangay Poblacion, Cauayan on Sunday, Jan. 15.
Allegedly owned by Emma Valencia, the coconut lumber were being transported from Hinoba-an town to this capital city.
Ledesma was facing charges for violation of the Forestry Reform Code of the Philippines.
Police turned over the truck and the coco lumber to Jean Badajos, coordinator of the Philippine Coconut Authority in Cauayan./PN
