KALIBO – Ateneo volleyball stars Jhoanna Maraguinot and Marck Espejo and University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses’ Ennajie Laure are set to lead the Ibajay Volleyball Skills Camp from May 30 to 31 at the Ibajay Sports Complex in Aklan.
The volleyball skills camp, scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., is presented by the Municipality of Ibajay under the Sports Development Program of Ibajay, Aklan mayor Jose Enrique Miraflores.
Maraguinot has been dubbed the Lady Eagles’ new star following the departure of Alyssa Valdez. She led the Lady Eagles to a runner-up finish in the UAAP Season 79 women’s volleyball.
Laure, on the other hand, is the current star of the Golden Tigresses, which recently reached the semifinals of the UAAP after a prolonged drought. She was also part of the Foton Tornadoes that won the 2016 Philippine Superliga Grand Prix title.
Both Maraguinot and Laure have also represented the country before when they were part of the Roger Gorayeb-mentored Philippine team that competed in the 2016 Asian Under-23 Volleyball Championships.
Espejo, meanwhile, is considered the most bemedalled men’s volleyball player winning four straight UAAP MVP trophy while also leading the Blue Eagles to a three-peat men’s volleyball title.
Espejo, who was recently cut from the 18-man national men’s volleyball lineup, has also carried the country’s colors during the 2015 Southeast Asian Games in Singapore.
