Comelec-Bacolod to test then seal vote machines

BACOLOD City – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) in this city will hold a testing and sealing of vote counting machines (VCMs) on May 7.

Comelec-Bacolod received a total of 450 VCMs for the May 9 synchronized national and local elections.

City acting election officer Revo Sorbito said the testing and sealing will be conducted in schools that have been identified as voting centers.

This should ensure that the VCMs are working properly, Sorbito said.

The testing and sealing will be open to members of the media as well as candidates.

The VCMs are currently being kept at a Comelec-designated warehouse in the city and secured by members of the Bacolod City Police Office.

Prior to the May 7 testing and sealing, Sorbito said Comelec-Bacolod would be convening the electoral boards on May 4.

There are 45 voting centers (public schools) here with 450 clustered precincts.

A total of 1,350 teachers will serve in electoral boards.

“We are ready for elections. We don’t see any problem,” Sorbito said.

Bacolod City has a total of 327,403 registered voters, according to Sorbito./PN
