CAPIZ – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) in this province recorded a total of 539,459 registered voters this year.
The voter distribution per district is as follows:
1st District (286,934 voters)
* Maayon (28,193), Panay (34,099), Panitan (28,181), Pilar (29,585), Pontevedra (32,823), President Roxas (21,315), and Roxas City (112,738).
2nd District (252,525 voters)
* Cuartero (20, 235), Dao (23, 072), Dumalag (21, 263), Dumarao (32, 218), Ivisan (21, 770), Jamindan (25, 731), Mambusao (28, 901), Sapian (19, 067), Sigma (23, 201), and Tapaz (37, 067)
Atty. Salud Milagros Villanueva, provincial election supervisor, also said that there are a total of 468 voting centers and 773 clustered precincts across 473 barangays in the province.
“Preparations are complete for the upcoming local and national elections on May 12. 100% kita nga ready [for the elections]. We are right on track,” Villanueva added.
Moreover, Comelec-Capiz reported that automated counting machines (ACMs) and batteries have already been deployed to various towns in the 2nd District on May 1 and the 1st District on May 2.
“We are happy to note that actually nag-abot na ang tanan nga ACM pati ang contingency ACMs sa mga offices sang election officers kag may ara pa gid nga contingency nga nag-abot para sa province,” Villanueva said.
A total of 909 ACMs have been allocated for the province, with 773 units for the clustered precincts, 106 units for contingency use in the 17 offices of election officers and 30 contingency units for Comelec-Capiz.
Earlier, the Comelec-Capiz and the Provincial Joint Security Control Center (PJSCC) conducted a focus group discussion to strengthen security for the upcoming elections.
The Comelec-Capiz had also conducted voter education at Colegio de la Purisima Concepcion, guiding students in understanding their right to suffrage, responsibilities, and the significance of their vote./PN
