BACOLOD City – Seven newly-built barangay health centers here are now in use.
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) started constructing nine barangay health centers in 2022.
The seven already being utilized are in the barangays of Punta Taytay, Cabug, Villamonte, Taculing, Banago, Montevista and Mandalangan.
The two still under construction are in barangays Mansilingan and Estefania.
Cong. Greg Gasataya said existing health centers in those barangays had limited space, thus the need for new ones.
Meanwhile, the DPWH will also start constructing this year an P8-million multipurpose building within the compound of the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH).
Since the start of the coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, the hospital does not allow watchers to be with their confined patients.
Instead, the watchers are staying outside the hospital on the sidewalk of Lacson Street./PN
