Construction worker arrested in Kalibo drug buy-bust

KALIBO, Aklan – A construction worker was caught red-handed after selling sachets of shabu to a poseur buyer in his house in Barangay Tigayon on February 16, 2022.

Police identified the suspect as 50-year old Jerry “Tata” Militante, resident of Purok 4, Tigayon, Kalibo.

Militante sold two heat-sealed sachets of shabu for P5,000 at around 7:25 p.m. in a drug buy-bust police operation conducted by Aklan Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Aklan, and Kalibo municipal police station.

Operatives seized 0.5 grams of shabu from Militante in their intensified campaign against the proliferation of illegal drugs.

Militante was previously arrested for his illegal drug trade activities, police said.

The suspect has been placed under the custody of Kalibo police station. He is facing a complaint in violation of Section 5, Article II of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Meanwhile, eight barangays in Kalibo retained their drug-cleared status following validation of the Regional Oversight Committee on Barangay Drug Clearing last February 10, 2022. The barangays are Pook, New Buswang, Mabilo, Linabuan Norte, Tinigaw, Bakhaw Sur, Mobo and Nalook./PN
