CAPIZ – A 42-year-old construction worker was arrested for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition at around 10:45 a.m. on Sunday, June 22, in Barangay Poblacion Norte, Ivisan, Capiz.
The suspect was identified by the alias “Mario,” single and a resident of the same barangay. He was found in possession of one homemade caliber .38 revolver without a serial number. The firearm was loaded with five rounds of live ammunition and concealed in a black sock.
In addition to the firearm covered by the search warrant, authorities also recovered other items not specified in the warrant, including one M16 airsoft gun, three rounds of caliber .45 live ammunition, and two rounds of caliber .22 live ammunition.
The arrest was made through the implementation of Search Warrant No. 34-2025 for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act. The search warrant was issued by Executive Judge Lorencito B. Diaz of the Regional Trial Court, Branch 17, 6th Judicial Region in Roxas City, dated June 16, 2025.
The suspect is currently under the custody of the Ivisan Municipal Police Station for documentation and proper disposition of the recovered evidence./PN
