BACOLOD City – The SangguniangPanlungsod (SP) is requesting Mayor EvelioLeonardia to convene the special committee for the Manokan Country Inasal Festival in the city.
City Ordinance (CO) No. 482 series of 2009 institutionalized the festival.
Councilor BartolomeOrola said the Manokan Country has become one of the major tourism centers in the city as it offers a “real llonggo taste” through the grilled chicken delicacy, which is also a manifestation of Bacolod’s identity.
CO No. 482 directs the city mayor to convene, through an executive order, the festival’s special committee.
The committee is composed of the city mayor as chairperson, chairpersons of the SP committees on tourism and public markets as co-chairpersons, and head of the city tourism department, city administrator or designated representative, City Engineer’s Office representative, City Planning Development Office head or representative, Bacolod City Police Office head or representative, two to three representatives from the private sector, one business sector representative, and Manokan Country occupants as members.
The special committee is required to convene at least twice a month to plan for the festival.
The festival must not be longer than five days, the ordinance stated.
The committee must decide for the concept of the festival, which must be “reflective of the culture and identity ofllonggos.”
According to Orola, Manokan Country lnasal Festival will further enhance Bacolod’s reputation of having the “iconic and original” chicken inasal./PN
