Cook busted with over P500K worth of marijuana in Sara

ILOILO – Police operatives recovered an estimated P532,500 worth of high-grade marijuana in a buy-bust operation conducted in Barangay Apologista, Sara, Iloilo, on Monday night, June 29.

The suspect was identified as alias “Alog,” a resident of Barangay Aldeguer, Sara, who works as a cook.

The operation was successfully carried out past 9 p.m. by the Iloilo Police Provincial Office’s (IPPO) Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit Team 3, led by Police Major Dadje Delima, in coordination with the Sara Municipal Police Station, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Region 6, IPPO’s Provincial Intelligence Unit, and the Regional Intelligence Unit 6.

According to Delima, the seized marijuana weighed around 355grams. Also confiscated were approximately P1,000 worth of suspected shabu and various drug paraphernalia.

Delima further revealed that an initial attempt to apprehend the suspect was planned during the recent Sulay Basya Festival in Sara. However, the operation did not push through at the time because the suspect fell ill.

The suspect is currently in police custody. As of press time, authorities were preparing charges against the suspect, including violations of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
