PANAY News had the pleasure of participating in one of Courtyard by Marriott Iloilo executive chef Chachpol Suaisom’s Exclusive Thai Cuisine cooking class at the Runway Kitchen.
The participants were taught two main courses – Gai Yang or Thai Grilled Chicken and Gong Keo Waan Neang or Thai Beef Green Curry and Eggplant, one soup – Tom Yam Goom or Spicy Prawn Soup, one appetizer – Thai Green Papaya Salad, and one dessert – Kluy Buad Chee or banana in coconut milk which is like the Thai version of our own lugaw and minatamis na saging combined.
Chef Chach started with a short background of a specific dish, and then he demonstrated how to cook it afterwards. The participants proceeded to recreate the same dish with the guidance of Chef Chach.
All throughout the class, he was very accommodating and he answered all questions asked. He was also hands-on in teaching his students, but at the same time, he also gave them the space to learn on their own. He gave comments and tips on how to improve the students’ cooking too.
Anyone can avail of this cooking class for only 1,500 per person, enroll with a friend and pay only for 2,000 pesos offered every Tuesday or Wednesday from 12 noon to 2:30 p.m. Just for that amount, you can bring home abundant knowledge on cooking. All the ingredients and equipment will already be provided by Courtyard.
After the class, you could enjoy the food you made and also receive a certificate of appearance signed by Chef Chachpol himself. A copy of the recipe for each will also be given to you so that you can recreate them in your homes.
This is just the start as different kinds of cuisine will soon be taught by the Courtyard by Marriott Iloilo in the future days to come./PN
