ILOILO City – A 36-year-old woman was arrested in Barangay Concepcion, City Proper for illegal gambling.

Mary Vic Villasis was detained at Police Station 1. Around 6 p.m. on May 20 policemen spotted her soliciting bets for the illegal numbers game “bookies.”

According to the police, Villasis pretended she was an agent of Small Town Lottery.

The suspect faces a charge for violation of Republic Act 9286 that outlaws illegal numbers games.

She could suffer “from eight years and one day to 10 years” of imprisonment if found guilty by the court as an illegal gambling collector or agent./PN
