CAPIZ – In anticipation of the upcoming Capiztahan 2024, the Capiz Police Provincial Office has declared a temporary suspension of the permit to transport and carry firearms outside residence (PTCFOR) in the province.
The gun ban will be effective from 12:01 a.m. on April 11 to 12:01 a.m. on May 1, as approved by the Chief of the Philippine National Police.
The decision to suspend firearms permits aims to prioritize the safety and security of festival attendees and is aligned with the commitment to uphold peace and order throughout the duration of the event.
To ensure public safety, law enforcement agencies will ramp up security efforts.
These include heightened patrol operations, checkpoint setups, increased police presence, surveillance activities, and strict enforcement of firearms regulations.
In line with the overarching goal to mitigate potential security threats and ensure the smooth and secure conduct of the festival, the general public is also encouraged to show full cooperation and strict adherence to safety regulations.
Capiztahan 2024 celebrates on the 15th of April the 123rd Founding Anniversary of the Civil Government of Capiz since its establishment in 1901 through Act No. 115 entitled, “An Act Extending the Provisions of the Provincial Government Act to the Province of Capiz.”
