MANILA – The Central Philippine University Golden Lions has sustained its impressive start in the 2017 Isuzu 17 and under Girls Volleyball League with another win on Tuesday at the Ateneo de Iloilo Gymnasium.
Led by Euna Gene Piosca, Eunice Guevarra and Chrisann Susbilla, the Golden Lions stretched its winning streak to three to remain on top of Bracket C following a 27-25, 25-10 straight-set triumph over erstwhile unbeaten La Paz National High School (2-1).
Iloilo City National High School, meanwhile, captured its second straight win in as many games to occupy the top seed in Bracket B following a 25-12, 25-13 sweep over Dingle (1-2).
Meanwhile, Fort San Pedro National High School fell all the way to last place in Bracket B following twin defeats at the hands of the debuting University of San Agustin High School (25-19, 25-20) and Dingle (25-17, 25-17).
In the lone Bracket A action, Ateneo de Iloilo (1-1) inched closer to top seed Hua Ming (3-0) with a 25-22, 21-25, 25-14 victory over Pavia, which suffered its second straight defeat.
Over at Bracket D, Iloilo National High School recovered from an opening day defeat by defeating the GVCS-Passi squad (24-26, 25-11, 25-10) and moved closer to bracket frontrunner Bacolod Tay Tung High School.
The last day of the eliminations today will still be at the Iloilo Doctors College Gym with the University of San Agustin facing Iloilo City National High School at 8 a.m., and the Ramon Avanceña National High School-Ateneo de Iloilo tiff at 9 a.m.
La Paz National High School will take on Barangay Black 17 at 10 a.m., while University of the Philippines High School in Iloilo will take on Pavia at 1 p.m. and the University of San Agustin-Dingle melee is at 2 p.m./PN
